Jussie Smollett shaved his head before checking himself into an outpatient drug rehab facility in Los Angeles. A Backgrid.com photographer snapped exclusive photos of Smollett carrying a “Narcotics Anonymous” book as he walked into the outpatient facility on Wednesday.
Smollett, 41, wore a black hoodie pulled over a ball cap, a white t-shirt and black sweatpants.
Going to drug rehab is “something he’s been wanting to do for years,” his rep told TMZ.
The rep added that he “just wrapped a movie” and felt “it was time.”
“He has quietly been working very hard for some time now and we are proud of him for taking these necessary steps,” the rep continued.
Smollett’s career nosedived after he claimed two masked Trump supporters assaulted him, tied a noose around his neck and yelled, “This is MAGA country.”
Smollett was charged with five counts of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police about a hate crime.
In December 2021, he was convicted of staging an anti-gay, racist hate crime in Chicago, where Fox TV’s “Empire” was shot.
Smollett was sentenced to serve 5 months in jail followed by community service and probation.
He served just six days in the Cook County Jail before he was released on bond while awaiting an appeal.
