Shannon Sharpe responded to mockery and jokes about his makeup on ESPN Monday. The Pro Football Hall of Famer went viral after he appeared casket sharp in heavy makeup on ESPN’s “First Take” with Stephen A. Smith.

One Twitter/X user said he looked like Little Richard. While another user claimed Sharpe looked “like a mean lunch lady.”

A third user posted a meme of comedian Dave Chappelle dressed like Prince serving pancakes.

“I’m sorry but they did unc Shannon sharpe wrong af on first take today man smh got him looking like Randy Jackson,” tweeted a Shannon Sharpe parody account.

Shannon responded, tweeting, “Appreciate the concern over my makeup this morning on @FirstTake.” He explained that the makeup artist was new and not used to working with dark skin.

“This was her 1st time doing my makeup and it was a little heavy. My appearance is important not as important as my takes.”

In response to a user who said the makeup artist was fired, Shannon wrote: “No she isn’t. She’ll get better with my makeup. Isn’t the end of the world.”
