The suspect wanted in the murder of a Maryland divorce court judge was found dead on Thursday.
Pedro Argote’s body was found in a heavily wooded area, approximately one mile northwest of where his Mercedes-Benz SUV was found Saturday.
Argote, 49, gunned down Maryland Circuit Judge Andrew Wilkinson in his driveway in Hagerstown on Oct. 19.
Judge Wilkinson, 52, died hours after Argote’s estranged wife Eugenia was awarded full custody of their four children, ages 3 to 12.
Eugenia allegedly accused him of abusing one of their daughters. Argote was ordered to pay $1,120 a month in child support and he was banned from entering the family home.
Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert said Argote “targeted” Judge Wilkinson at his home hours after the divorce proceedings.
The U.S. Marshals Service had offered a $10,000 reward for tips leading to his arrest.
The search for Argote focused on the New York area where he had connections to the Brooklyn and Long Island areas.
