Pharrell Williams was slammed as “out of touch” for debuting Louis Vuitton’s most expensive bag.
Pharrell was appointed Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Creative Director in February. He replaced Virgil Abloh who died from cancer in 2021.
The fluorescent yellow “Millionaire Speedy Bag” is handmade from crocodile leather and features Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram. The bag is made to order and will be available in 4 colors.
Pharrell told GQ magazine that he “reimagined it as a Canal Street counterfeiter might, in primary colors, but on leather so soft it seems to melt when you hold it in your arm.”
In a video uploaded to Twitter/X, Pharrell explains why the bag comes with a hefty $1 million price tag.
“Every bit of the bag is gold, like the zipper, the teeth on the zipper is gold, all the hardware, every rivet,” he said.
Pharrell said the custom LV lock contains Pavé diamonds and the heavy chain is real gold. The bag comes with a matching strap for millionaires who prefer to keep a low profile.
