A Baltimore area principal is under investigation for allegedly making racist and antisemitic statements in a private chat.

Eric Eiswert, principal at Pikesville High School in Maryland, is under investigation by the Baltimore school district for racist comments attributed to him in a secret recording.

In the recording, a male voice is heard ranting about Black students who grade poorly on tests and teachers who don’t teach.

“I seriously don’t understand why I have to put up with these dumbasses here every day… Between these ungrateful Black kids who can’t test their way out of a paper bag or these teachers who don’t get it. How hard is it to get these students to meet their grade-level expectations?”

The male also complained about Jewish people in the community. Pikesville has a large Jewish population.

The recording was posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 17, and quickly went viral.

A union official representing Eiswert claimed the recording was made using artificial intelligence (AI).

According to The Baltimore Banner, Billy Burke, executive director of the union representing Baltimore County administrators, said someone created the recording using artificial intelligence.

Burke told The Banner that Eiswert “denounces [the racist comments], and he did not make those statements.”

WMAR-2 News reported that BCPS Superintendent Myriam Rogers is working to verify the authenticity of the recording.

“I understand how upsetting this recording is for many members of the Team BCPS community,” said Rogers. “We will not tolerate disparaging remarks about any member of the Team BCPS community.”
