The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in Super Bowl 58 on Sunday. But Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce is trending for a different reason.
During the 1st half, Kelce went berserk on his head coach Andy Reid on the sideline.
Kelce, 34, screamed at 65-year-old Reid then bumped into him. Reid nearly lost his balance and fell over.
Another player grabbed Kelce to calm him down.
Reid, the head coach of the 4X Super Bowl champions, seemed terrified of his star player.
According to Reddit.com users, Kelce is known for putting his hands on his coaches during football practice.
Usually, a player who assaults the head coach is cut or traded immediately.
But Kelce gets a pass from the news media because he’s dating pop singer Taylor Swift.
One Reddit user wrote: “This isn’t the first time he’s laid hands on the coaching staff- he’s notorious for doing it in practice, too. If this had been a BIPOC player, they would have cut him expeditiously.”
Others expressed fear for Taylor’s safety.
“Reprehensible conduct so out of control was OK with millions of fans watching including his current love interest. Please Taylor don’t settle for this man and his family it has the makings of an abusive family life.”
“I saw this during the game and had flashbacks to my ex punching walls and scaring the shit out of me. Don’t ever go for a man like this, ladies.”
“Lost all respect for Kelce. Seems he’s prone to physically abusing and bullying old people. I don’t know if its who he is, or if its CTE kicking in. But either way, my advice to Taylor is: RUN.”
CBS analyst Tony Romo speculated that Kelce was furious because he wasn’t on the field when the Chiefs fumbled the ball.
Kelce had one catch for 1 yard during the first half when the Chiefs trailed the 49ers 10-3 at halftime.
