The 27-year-old Atlanta native wiped her Instagram of all posts on Tuesday.

According to Variety, that’s a tactic often used by artists signaling a new era in their careers.

Dopamine is Normani’s first solo release since the breakup of her group Fifth Harmony.

On Wednesday, she took to Instagram to post the cover of Dopamine. The album is named after the chemical neurotransmitter in the brain that makes people feel love struck.

The cover features Normani riding a black rocket against a white background. “Cryingg typing this rn. DOPAMINE THE ALBUM,” she wrote in her caption.

Fifth Harmony formed in 2012 and included pop singer Camila Cabello, who departed in 2016. Fifth Harmony split in 2018.

As a solo artist, Normani kept her fans waiting for a full-length album.

On her website, the release date for Dopamine is ever-changing.

One fan wrote on Reddit.com, “Give us a date Normani, when is later this year exactly? I will not get my hopes up till I see an actual album.”

Another fan wrote: “I wish folks would give her grace about why it took so long for her to release music, as i understand she lost a family member and was dealing with that. love the visual and im excited for more!”

Normani dropped singles, including “Dancing With a Stranger” with Sam Smith and “Love Lies” with Khalid for the film Love, Simon (2018).

In 2018 Normani released the single “Wild Side,” featuring Cardi B, which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Normani’s hit single “Motivation” cracked the top 40 in 2019.

According to youramazingbrain.org, scientists analyzed the brain chemistry of love struck couples and found high levels of dopamine.

Dopamine stimulates the reward system of the brain and triggers an intense rush of pleasure. It has the same effect on the brain as taking cocaine.
