Elon Musk sparked outrage from celebrities who woke up to find their blue badges turned back on.

Some celebrities fled Twitter for other social media platforms after Elon paid $44 billion to buy Twitter in 2022.

Celebrities who stayed on Twitter refused to pay $8 a month for a “verified” blue badge.

So Elon gave them free premium accounts which offered the option to turn off the blue badge.

Regular users who paid $8 for verification also turned off their blue badges to hide their subscriptions.

But Elon flipped the script and turned the blue badges back on this week.

Elon recently announced he was giving free premium accounts to anyone with more than 2500 verified followers who paid for their blue badges.

Now celebrities are venting their frustration on X/Twitter and demanding to turn the blue checks off.

One user wrote: “Next Level Trolling: Giving out free Blue Check marks to people who signaled their virtue by not having the Blue Check… Epic @elonmusk.”

Roland S. Martin tweeted: “Oh, so @elonmusk’s team has given me a blue check. I DID NOT PAY FOR THIS AND WILL NOT PAY THIS.”

Users who paid for their blue badges demanded to unsubscribe.
