Tyrese said his mother made him act like a special needs child to get a bigger check from Social Security.
Tyrese made the comment in an interview with Gillie Da Kid on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast.
The “Fast & Furious” star claimed he was 8 when his mom Priscilla made him “play r*tarded” in order to get $762 more from the government.
The singer said his role – directed by Priscilla – was his “first acting gig.”
Social Security pays extra benefits to parents of a child who has special needs or a disability until the child turns 18.
Tyrese’s mother died with COVID in February 2022, so his story can’t be confirmed. He said the government can’t arrest his mom now because “she’s gone.”
Tyrese called his mom’s death “the saddest moment of [his] life.”
“May the lord Jesus Christ honor your walk with him and embrace you into the heavens,” he wrote in a tribute to his mom in 2022.
Tyrese recently suffered a mental breakdown on social media.
He said he is stressed out because his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, wants to increase her child support to $40,000 a month.
“I’m doing the best I can with every 24 hours I get,” Tyrese told The Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne. “I don’t need no tissue. Black men cry,” Tyrese said through tears.
Tyrese and his second wife, Samantha Lee, separated in 2020 after four years of marriage. They share a 6-year-old daughter named Soraya.
A judge ordered the “Fast & Furious” star to pay Samantha $10,000 a month in child support. Additionally, he was ordered to pay over $630,000 in back child support and lawyer fees.
