NYC Mayor Eric Adams‘ top aide Ingrid Lewis-Martin and her son Glenn Martin II surrendered to federal authorities on Thursday. They both face bribery and money laundering charges. Lewis-Martin is the highest-profile city official to face charges since Adams was indicted on federal corruption charges in late September.
Lewis Martin held her head high as the feds perp-walked her in front of the cameras. She dressed for the occasion in a pantsuit, a leopard-print top and wearing bold red lipstick.
Lewis-Martin is accused of helping to secure construction permits for two businessmen who gave her son a $100,000 loan to buy a Porsche Panamera.
Glenn Martin II, 38, flashed material possessions and cash in music videos on YouTube. He performed under the stage name DJ Suave Luciano (see video below).
DJ Suave spent thousands of dollars a month on clothes and jewelry, and he featured scantily clad Instagram models with BBLs in his music videos.
The feds say DJ Suave used his mother’s powerful connections to finance his dream of being an international singer. Lewis-Martin helped to secure building permits for two real estate developers who helped her son buy a $113,000 Porsche with a $100,000 loan.
Lewis-Martin and her son shared a joint bank account. They routinely deposited $100,000 into the account every month.
The developers also helped DJ Suave set up a Chick-fil-A franchise, in exchange for building permits, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Lewis-Martin introduced her son during a party at Gracie Mansion celebrating Caribbean-American heritage in June. She cracked a joke that her son was DJ’ing the city-run event for free.
“He always volunteers,” she said. “They try to write us up in the papers, but he doesn’t take any money. He’s a volunteer. Just saying that.”
