Ashanti and Nelly are reportedly expecting their second child – less than 8 months after they welcomed a son.
The “Foolish” singer and the “Hot in Herre” rapper secretly tied the knot in December 2023. They welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide “KK” Haynes in June 2024.
In a recent interview with E! News, Ashanti, 44, spoke about being a first-time mom. “I am feeling amazing, incredibly pleased, humbled,” she said. “My life has completely changed for the better. I feel full, you know? My cup is full.”
Ashanti also updated fans on her 7-month-old son reaching early milestones in his development. “He’s clapping now, noticing everything. He loves FaceTime — grabs the phone, puts his whole face into it, and just starts laughing and smiling,” she explained.
Ashanti shared her excitement about growing their family with a new addition. In November 2024, Ashanti and Nelly confirmed they were expecting a second child.
In fact, Ashanti said they’re going to add even more babies to their family in the future.
“Absolutely! We’re going to add some more. Definitely a girl to balance it out. I’m outnumbered in the house right now, so a girl would be great,” she said.
Nelly, 50, told ET that it has been amazing watching Ashanti care for their first child together.
“She’s an awesome mom, to watch someone care about someone else so much and give their all and is willing to give their all. Like she said, sometimes it can be too far but you would way prefer to have a parent that goes too far than a parent that doesn’t go far enough.”
