Maurice was a fan favorite who was dubbed “Turtleneck Ted” because of the turtleneck sweaters Dr. Richardson wore on the show.

Maurice was born in Augusta, Georgia to 2 nurses. He previously starred in CBS’s “Good Girls and “The Inspectors”, NBC’s “Chicago Fire” and “Game of Silence,” and Tyler Perry’s “For Better or Worse” on OWN.

His last Beyond the Gates-related Twitter post was on Thursday, March 20. He tweeted: “Sorry to disappoint the loyal #TurtleneckTed fans yesterday … Just loving on my wife in my crewneck… [Purple Hearts].”

He shared images from a scene with actress Daphnée Duplaix, who plays his wife, clinical psychologist Dr. Nicole Richardson.

There is speculation that Maurice was let go because he and Daphnée (pictured below right) didn’t get along on the set. Others say he was fired because his acting skills were lacking.
