The Internal Revenue Service has extended the federal tax deadline for Georgia residents to May 1.

If you are a Georgia resident and you haven’t filed your taxes yet, you’ve still got time.

The federal tax deadline is April 15, but residents in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and other states have until May 1, 2025 to file both state and federal taxes.

An emergency declaration gave Hurricane Helene victims an extension to file their taxes. The extension applies to everyone in the state of Georgia even if you weren’t affected by the hurricane.

The extension also applies to small business owners who file quarterly estimated payments. The April 15 estimated payment is extended until May 1, 2025.

The IRS extended the tax deadline for certain states to provide relief for Hurricane Helene victims who are still cleaning up and renovating their homes and businesses after the storm.

Taxpayers in the Los Angeles, California area that were affected by wildfires have until October 15, 2025 to file their federal and state taxes.
