Beyoncé cheated death during the first night of her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
The 43-year-old pop star kicked off night 1 of her hometown stop on Saturday, June 28. She was performing “16 Carriages” when a prop car she was flying in suddenly jerked in mid-air and tipped to one side.
Beyoncé yelled “Stop!” repeatedly into the mic as the music cut off and the arena fell silent. The stage crew scrambled to get her down before the unthinkable happened.
Worried fans clutched their pearls as Bey held on for dear life while the malfunctioning red suede Cadillac dangled in the air above the horrified crowd.
“Get her down!” fans screamed as the nervous singer smiled and maintained her composure. Bey’s fans reported she mouthed the words, “Somebody’s getting fired.” But there’s no evidence she actually said that.
Beyoncé’s performance for her hometown fans had gone perfectly until the horrifying mishap.

The stage crew was able to get Beyoncé down safely. After regaining her composure, Beyoncé returned to the stage and thanked the crowd, “I want to thank y’all for loving me,” she said. “If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me.”

After the show, Parkwood Entertainment released a statement saying, “a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.”
Beyoncé took to Instagram after the concert, and wrote, “I love you, Houston.”
Fans flocked to social media to post videos from the Houston show. One video showed what looked like the Grim Reaper leaving the NRG Stadium empty-handed.
