Tamar Braxton partnered with Gilead Sciences to raise awareness about HIV prevention options, particularly PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), among Black women.
The partnership comes months after Tamar revealed she’s taking anti-HIV PrEP medication while dating in Atlanta.

Tamar announced her partnership in a post on Instagram on Monday, July 14.
“I’m proud to announce my partnership with @GileadSciences,” she wrote. “Last weekend was truly inspiring. I was deeply honored to join @Raheem_DeVaughn and @DrContessa at the Global Black Economic Forum during #EssenceFest to share my personal PrEP journey and highlight the power of prevention in helping normalize conversations around sexual health.”

She continued: “We need more open conversations about HIV prevention and less stigma. I’ve always been an advocate for Black women, and now more than ever, it’s time we empower each other to ask questions, protect our bodies, and own our joy.”
The GRAMMY-nominated singer, television personality, and health advocate went viral in March when she announced she was taking anti-HIV PrEP medication while on the dating scene in Atlanta.

Tamar said she’s taking precautions while dating in Atlanta, where 1 in 3 men are diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
PrEP is prescribed for sexually active heterosexual or LGBTQ individuals. Tamar is aware that the men she dates in Atlanta may date other men.
“I’m on PrEP, and I will tell everybody get on PrEP because prepare yourself for the streets,” she said in the video.
“It’s important to take care of yourself, no matter what your relationship status is,” Tamar said in the video. “And I’m just being honest about what that looks like for me.”
