Eddie Murphy recalls his favorite memory of Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson on the set of “Dreamgirls.”
Dreamgirls is the 2006 film adaptation from the 1981 Broadway musical of the same name. The movie starred Murphy, Beyoncé, Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, Jamie Foxx, Danny Glover, and Keith Robinson.
During an appearance on the “360 With Speedy” podcast on Thursday, Eddie was asked to share a story about Beyoncé on the set.
He recalled an incident when Beyoncé taught “ashy” Jennifer Hudson proper skincare and hygiene.
“I did Dreamgirls right when I was getting divorced,” said Eddie, referring to his 2005 divorce from Nicole Murphy after 12 years of marriage.
“My Beyoncé memory — and neither one of them knows that I know this — I watched Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé,” said Eddie. “They were in between shots, they were on stage, and Jennifer was new in show business and she had, I guess a finger, right between, was ashy, and she was licking her fingers and getting the ash like that.”
Eddie said Beyoncé immediately grabbed Jennifer and said, “Ooh girl, don’t do that. I’ll get you some cream.”
“And it was quiet between the two of them, but I saw it,” Eddie continued. “And this might be the first time I share that with anyone. That’s my Beyoncé memory.”
