Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from New York to Miami, Florida following his arrest in Dubai on a fugitive warrant for attempted murder earlier this month.
After appearing at a bond hearing on Wednesday, Brown was released on $25,000 bail. He is on house arrest and must wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Brown, 37, pleaded not guilty to 2nd-degree attempted murder. The charge carries a potential 15-year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine.
Prosecutors asked the judge not to release Brown from jail because he has already proven to be a flight risk.
The former wide receiver was wanted on a fugitive warrant for firing a handgun at a man during a fight in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami in May. The victim was grazed in the neck with a bullet.
According to the warrant, an off-duty officer working security at a boxing event told police he saw Antonio Brown involved in a physical altercation with a man on May 16.
The off-duty officer said Brown fired a handgun during the altercation. Brown did not have a weapon on him when he was patted down by cops after the fight, but police did find 2 empty shell casings and an empty gun holster on him.
To avoid arrest, Brown fled to Dubai where he lived for three months, according to posts on his social media.
Following his capture in Dubai, Brown was extradited to New York and turned over to federal marshals last Tuesday.
