A pregnant Chicago mom is speaking out after she and her children were attacked by a group of elementary school students while walking home on Monday.
Carshawnda Hatter, 33, was attacked near her home on Monday by Orville Bright Elementary School students after she asked them to stop bullying her son.
Cell phone video shows Carshawnda shielding her children from punches thrown by male and female students.
The children snatched Carshawnda’s wig off and knocked the ailing mom to the ground. They punched and stomped her and her 9-year-old son, as her daughter screamed and cried.

Carshawnda spoke to reporters on Tuesday, saying, “They followed us all the way there.”
“They were literally waiting (along) the way we walk home, just to jump all of us. So I asked my kids to come to the next side of the street with me, so they wouldn’t get jumped.”
The attack left Carshawnda, who has sickle cell disease, and her 9-year-old son hospitalized, and sparked outrage in the community.

Parents and anti-violence advocates showed up at the school and began to protest. Videos show the parents and activists calling for the school to release the children’s names.
Police soon arrived at the school, but the administration refused to name the students involved.
Parents stepped up and donated to a GoFundMe account for the young mom.
The community is outraged by the senseless attack. They said the same group of 7-10 year olds have terrorized the neighborhood for a long time.
“This has been happening in our community for a while, and the parents never take responsibility for what their kids do,” one parent said. “If my kids were causing trouble, I’d be out here addressing it.”
One mother addressed her son’s participation in a viral TikTok video on Tuesday.
As her terrified son stood in the background, the woman faced the camera and said, “You know the whole city of Chicago looking for you right? You and your little friends.”
She added, “You know I’m not helping you, right?”

Another mom appeared in a video alongside her daughter who was allegedly involved in the attack. As her daughter cried and apologized, the mom cautioned viewers that the girl is still a minor child.
Illinois State Sen. Willie Preston said the attack against Carshawnda was “horrible.” He spoke to the media and said the situation had been going on for a long time.
“The video was disgusting, and the video was a symptom of something that’s been going on for a long time. We haven’t held these kids accountable. We haven’t held these parents accountable for the violent actions that their children are doing.”
One person wrote on Instagram: “It’s good seeing A VILLAGE Come together for a cause! God Bless her and her kids, it hit harder seeing her in person and feeling that.”
Another person wrote: “JAIL AND WHOOPINGS.”
A third person commented: “This hurt me. I actually cried. This was so sad, disgusting, and disturbing… Them kids need to be held accountable and punished. There needs to be serious consequences!”
