Hollywood’s favorite bi-coastal couple, Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy, have called it quits after a 5-year engagement.
Murphy’s rep broke the news to People magazine.
Strahan, who co-hosts LIVE! with Kelly and Michael with Kelly Ripa, split his time between New York and Los Angeles where Murphy lives with her 5 children (by comedian Eddie Murphy).
Nicole’s commitment to filming her reality TV show, Hollywood Exes, kept her busy on the west coast. Eventually the long distance took its toll on their relationship (a man has certain basic needs).
“They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” Strahan’s rep told People magazine.
Strahan, 42, and Murphy, 46, started dating in 2007. He proposed to her a year later.
Murphy was hesitant to jump back into a relationship after her bitter divorce from Eddie Murphy. But she believed she’d found just what she was looking for in Strahan.
Typical of most women who don’t know the difference between intense lust and Love, Murphy fell head over heels for Strahan.
“Michael and I talk about everything, and we both love to travel, explore and laugh,” she told People in February 2008.
Strahan and Murphy have 9 children between them.
