Young Jeezy just added a brand new mugshot to his growing collection (bottom right). The 36-year-old rapper was taken into custody for possession of an assault rifle. The weapon was recovered by police who executed a search warrant on Jeezy’s tour bus as part of an ongoing investigation into a deadly shooting at Jeezy’s rap concert in Mountain View, CA. on Friday.
The shooting victim is 38-year-old Eric Johnson (pictured above), who promoted Jeezy’s concert after-party in Mountain View that same evening. Johnson was shot at least five times backstage at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday. Police believe Jeezy’s weapon and Johnson’s death are linked. An anonymous tip led police to search Jeezy’s tour bus outside the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. on Sunday.
Update: The LA Times reports Jeezy was taken into custody along with 5 others on the tour bus: Kena Marshall, 39; Peter Maynard, 38; David Kuniansky-Altman, 31; William Gilmore, 48; and Alexa Beason, 46.
None of the 6 are charged in Johnson’s murder, Police Sgt. Saul Jaeger told the LA TImes.
The gunman is still at large.
According to gossip tabloid TMZ, which broke the story, Jeezy is being held on a $1 million bond.
