Thousands of Baltimore Ravens fans lined up to swap their Ray Rice jerseys for another player’s jersey in the wake of his arrest on domestic violence charges.
Rice is suspended from the team indefinitely. He will lose approximately $10 million in salary and bonuses, as well as revenue from endorsements. The NFL Players Association filed an appeal on Rice’s behalf late Tuesday night.
Moments ago, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell broke his silence after nine days.
“I got it wrong in the handling of the Ray Rice matter, and I’m sorry for that,” Goodell said is a press conference on Friday.
The NFL initially suspended Rice for just 2 measly games in May. But new footage surfaced showing Rice knocking out his now-wife, Janay Rice. Goodell claimed he never saw the knockout punch until gossip tabloid TMZ published the footage.
