British singer/songwriter Sam Smith, right, is a single man, according to Billboard.com. The openly gay “Lonely Hour” singer hinted at a break-up with Jonathan Zeizel, his boyfriend of 3 months (or was it 3 weeks?).
Smith, 22, and Zeizel, a dancer, met on the set of one of Smith’s music videos. As intense gay relationships usually go; this one flamed out rather quickly.
“Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell. It’s been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day x,” Smith wrote in a caption under a sad Instagram photo of himself holding a glass of red wine.
Smith also dedicated a break-up song, “Like I Can,” to no one in particular at his Toronto concert on Tuesday night.
“This song is very special for me today. It’s because I’ve actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I’ve been seeing,” he told his rapt audience. “They’ll never love you like I can,” Smith sang.
In 2012 Smith posted a Tweet begging Brown to “turn gay please.” He quickly deleted the 2-year-old Tweet after a fan unearthed it and retweeted it to Smith’s legions of fans. Smith claimed his Twitter account had been hacked.
