The family of a North Carolina man included an usual political request in his obituary.
Many Americans shudder at the thought of Hillary Clinton being elected president of the United States. Clinton’s style of shade tree politics doesn’t sit well with Americans like Larry Darrell Upright, 81, who died last week. He would probably roll over in his grave if Clinton was elected president.
So Upright’s family included his last dying wish in his obituary.
From The Independent:
The eulogy details the family he leaves behind, his membership of the local Masonic lodge and his love of golf. It then gives details of when his funeral will be and where people can send flowers.
Nothing out of the ordinary there, you may think, until the final line: “Also, the family respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. R.I.P. Grandaddy.”
Responses on Legacy.com, where the obituary is also posted, include those like “my condolences to the family of Larry Upright. I will certainly not be voting for Hillary Clinton and pledge to do all I can to dissuade others from voting for her” and “I will not vote for Hillary sir and I’ll do everything I can to convince others not to either! God speed”.
