Video footage captured a black Cleveland woman expressing her fear of dying hours before she was found dead in a jail cell.
In the video footage released on Tuesday, Ralkina Jones, 37, told jailers “I don’t want to die in your cell.”
Jones was arrested on July 24 after attempting to run over her ex-husband with her car in a grocery store parking lot.
Prior to using her car as a deadly weapon, Jones assaulted her husband inside the grocery store, then pursued him into the parking lot where she swung a tire iron at him.
Jones, who had a medical history of hypertension, rapid heart rate and migraines, told officers she needed medication for her heart disorder.
Jones was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a disorder that increases the heart beat rapidly when going from a lying to a sitting or standing position.
The sudden increase in heart rate can cause dizziness, light-headedness, migraine headaches, shortness of breath and fainting.
Jones also told jailers she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.
Jones was transported to a local hospital when jailers noticed she was sluring her words. She was assessed by medical personnel at the hospital and returned to the jail at 10:40 p.m. on July 25.
Jones was found dead of natural causes in her jail cell on the morning of July 26.
Despite her documented medical problems, Jones’ family insists she was in “good health” prior to being arrested.
“Someone’s going to answer to it. If not, everyone’s going to answer to it, because you can’t just do this,” her sister told WKYC-TV.

Yeah she was in high school when it started it took forever for them to take us serious about it. We went to Sibley Heart and they hooked her up to a monitor and that’s when the finally found it cuz it would happen so quick and by the time we got to the hospital..it would stop. scary
That happens when the signal to the 2 big lower chambers of the heart goes haywire and the heart chambers start beating rapidly because they’re not getting the signal telling them to beat normally. So freezing the area near the nodes in the heart (where the signal is coming from) can regulate the heartbeat.

This is where I get lost. She had a laundry list of ish wrong and was cleary acting irrational. She knew her conditions better than anyone else so why was her azz out trying to commit vehicular homicide…
Unfortunately, I believe it wouldn’t make a difference if she was arrested or not. She was over extended well beyond what her body was able to allow. It’s an unfortunate turn of events, but when you have heart issues and are taking medications, warning labels are included to advise you of what not to do.
Just a tiny part of the heart is frozen.
If she had not been carrying on like she was, which led to her arrest, she would probably still be alive.

And strange enough.. now because she has had that when she goes to the dentist if they have to do any work they make her take antibiotics first before they will even touch her…

In the video she seems out of it like whatever actions that transpired before she ended up in the cell could have already starting affecting her. She seems drunk but it’s probably her lack of medication. So sad I hope this horrific trend stops. Stop getting arrested and stop putting them in cells and they die.

I know a friends brother passed with no medical history and died at 38 of a heart attack I had another friend who didn’t do drugs or anything – we graduated together he died of a heart attack out of nowhere.
I have high blood pressure…. I could go from zero to 1000 in 60 seconds. My doctor said it makes some people highly agitated and aggressive. I know that I had to change my diet because being angry and going off is counterproductive .
What a sad way to go out of this world, she must have known she was rapidly declining . Her family has there answer though, swinging a tire iron after physically assaulting someone can wear down a healthy person.

I think folks are quick to try and blame somebody, anybody for a sudden death.
Sometimes it’s not the decedents fault, not the authorities fault, sometimes death just comes with no rhyme or reason.
I think to accept that tho….means that we all have to accept our own mortality ….and realize that the same thing could happen to us. If not in a jail cell, in a cubicle at work.
Death is only logical in the sense that it is sometimes illogical.
The best that we can do is hope that if death does visit us unexpectedly..we are at least wearing clean underwear.

This really disturbed me. From what I hear her husband was no good and the grown kids take after him. She looked like she just lost a lot of weight from illness or gastro?, she also said she had an anxiety attack. She knew she wasn’t feeling right- her trembling voice, when she rubs her hand across her stomach- fix it Jesus!!. She died in her sleep, but what shut down? her heart? her liver from all those meds? or was it a stroke? I’ve had a severe anxiety attack and constant adrenaline dumps that lasted for hours, doctor told me that as long as my EKG was good and I had no blockage, I’m good. I don’t wanna die in my sleep!!!!
I agree however some medications side effects could have caused her violent and irresponsible behavior as well. When it comes to brain medications, as I stated before ALL medication effects Blacks differently as suppose to whites. Some testing for meds are mainly performed on whites and Drs thinks it will work on US based on the experiment study!!

Hello SR! I’ve been a long time lurker on your board for years, mainly to read the ridiculous comments posted from the Roses! (They keep me laughing) However, I had to add some clarity to this tragic situation by shedding some light on RALKINA as person! She and I were roommates in college and she was one of the closest friends that I’ve ever had. It saddens me to hear or read people speaking negatively about her without knowing the real person she truly was versus just judging her on a few terrible actions she made one night out of 37 years on this earth. Prior to this situation she was never arrested for any crime whatsoever. So this type of behavior from her was completely out of character. Kina was not a violent person, but I CAN’T say the same thing for her ex-husband, who’s in the middle of all this mess. He was recently released from prison in February/March for kidnapping her at gunpoint and assaulting her among other charges. She’s told me about several situations of physical, mental, and emotional abuse that she suffered at his hands. Kina was only around 5″2 while he is about 6″4, so she was no match for him physically. While I didn’t speak to her the night she was arrested, I do know that he’d been harassing her since his release from prison. I’m only speculating at this point just knowing her the way that I did, but do believe that the night of the incident she just snapped after dealing with his abuse and harassment for so long. I think she decided to “fight fire with fire” so to speak! I believe she decided to hit him where she knew it would hurt which (like most men) was his car. Now of course I can’t condone her actions that night and like I stated earlier I didn’t speak to her that night so I’m merely guessing as to what caused her to behave so irrational, especially with her daughter Kayla in the car with her. Kina had a brain aneurysm, high blood pressure, heart murmur and she suffered from severe depression. She underwent gastric bypass surgery a few years ago but still naked with her weight. So I do know she was on numerous medications including migraine meds, antidepressants, anti-anxiety pills and sedatives for insomnia. So with all those medications combined that could’ve altered her behavior that night but again I’m only speculating. She endured many forms of abuse and neglect throughout her life from watching her mother struggle with drug addiction, which left Kina (only being a child herself) to have to lookout and practically raise her six younger siblings. Her uncle (whom happened to be her best friend because they were so close in age) was shot and killed by the police a few years ago. Her father was never a steady presence in her life which left a huge void in her, especially where men were concerned. She, like many women with daddy issues, always seemed to find herself in love with the wrong type of man, just like her ex-husband. I truly believe his abuse & harassment towards her drove her to that breaking point and she decided to fight back and unfortunately she reacted in the wrong way leading up to her getting arrested. Last thing I want say is that it’s a shame K(ayla) was there to witness that. However, Kinda was a great mother to K. That was her only child and she adored her. Kina expressed to me more than once that K was her only reason for living. I do not believe that she would knowingly and willfully put her daughter in any danger, which leads me to believe that she basically snapped or flipped out for just those few minutes that she was going after her ex-husband. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. However, the bloggers and readers should try keeping in mind that these headlines and stories are about REAL people with loved ones left behind to mourn their lost. It can be difficult seeing your loved one(s) being dragged on the internet by total strangers who don’t know them or even know the full story. I just had to get a little of that frustration off my chest Ms. Sandra Rose. Many blessing to you and your Roses.
Per the information provided she requested multiple times for medication and even told the officers she feared for her life yet they ignored her and her serious health condition(s). She should have received medical attention.

Clearly you didn’t watch the video. The jailers carefully went over her medications WITH HER. They asked questions and even filmed their interactions with her. She did receive her medications, but she still died due to her serious medical disorders. Sadly, it was her time to go.
