Michael Sam is a name synonymous with failure. The 25-year-old openly gay football player quit the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League today.
This is the 2nd time Sam has walked away from the team that showed interest in him after every NFL team turned their backs on him.
“The last 12 months have been very difficult for me, to the point where I became concerned with my mental health,” Sam tweeted Friday. “Because of this I am going to step away from the game at this time.”
Sam was probably referring to the breakup of his on-again, off-again relationship with gold digger, Vito Cammisano.
Sam made his CFL debut 2 weeks ago. He took off from work last week, complaining of a sore back. But even before that, Sam did not endear himself to his Alouettes teammates. He also didn’t show any of the flair for tackles or quarterback sacks that he was known for in college.
Sam’s hometown St. Louis Rams drafted him in the 2014 NFL draft, but he did not make the final roster. Sam was also cut by the Dallas Cowboys who signed Sam as a favor to the NFL league office.
