A note allegedly written by a 6-year-old boy who died of a brain infection is drawing skepticism from users on social media.

The note was found on the coffee table by Leland Shoemake’s mother, Amber, when she went home to pick out Leland’s burial clothes.

Amber didn’t explain how how the note wound up on the living room table, since Leland was hospitalized in critical condition before he died on Friday.

Skeptics point to the words “Still with you” as proof that the boy didn’t write the note. Others say that an adult hand wrote the note.

Amber posted the note on a Facebook page dedicated to her son, Prayers for Leland.

“We have no idea when he wrote it but you can tell he was always a special child,” Amber Shoemake wrote in the Facebook post.

Leland died from a brain infection caused by the Balamuthia mandrillaris amoeba. According to the CDC, the amoeba infection is rare. It is contracted through contaminated soil, water, or inhaling the amoeba through the nose where it travels to the brain.

Leland’s parents started a GoFundMe page to raise money for hospital bills.
