At least 60 people are confirmed dead and dozens injured in “highly coordinated” terrorist attacks in Paris, France on Friday.

At least 6-8 gunmen are holding dozens of concertgoers hostage at a concert hall in Paris.

The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for the death of ISIS executioner Mohammed Emwazi.

The 27-year-old ISIS executioner, who was dubbed Jihadi John, was killed in a drone strike in the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa, Syria on Thursday.

A BBC journalist said he saw 10 bodies in the street outside the Petit Cambodge restaurant, where a gunman opened fire on diners. He said the victims are dead and wounded.

“There were a lot of dead people… it was horrific,” eyewitness Ben Grant tells the BBC.

French media says at least 15 were killed in explosions at the Bataclan arts centre. Explosions were also reported outside a bar near the Stade de France.

Counter terrorism experts has put the city on heightened alert out of an abundance of caution. President Obama will make a statement about the Paris attacks.
