Rapper Rick Ross took a shot at bankrupt rap mogul 50 Cent in an interview with Rolling Stone. The former corrections officer clowned the father-of-2, saying he is the biggest ‘L’ 50 Cent ever took.
In hip hop parlance, to take an L means taking a loss.
Responding to Rolling Stone‘s inquiry about his relationship with 50, Ross said, “At this point, my relationship with Curtis is really amusing, due to the fact that I’m the biggest L he ever took.”
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, responded to Ross’s shade in typical fashion. The 40-year-old rapper posted an Instagram image of a blood soaked jackal carrying a deer’s decapitated head in its jaw.
Many of Fiddy’s followers interpreted the violent image to mean a veiled threat against Ross’s life.
Ross is no stranger to threats on his life.
An unknown gunman shot up his Rolls Royce in Florida in 2013. Ross and a female companion escaped unharmed. But the portly rapper beefed up his security and fled to Atlanta to play it safe.
Below is Ross’s full comment:
Your old enemy 50 Cent made fun of your first-week album sales for this album. Does that even bother you anymore, or do you brush it off?
“At this point, my relationship with Curtis is really amusing, due to the fact that I’m the biggest L he ever took. I’m still enjoying life. My kids love me. I’m blessed. And when it comes to Curtis, it’s just unfortunate. I’m not happy that his boxing company went under. I’m not happy that his clothing company went under. I’m not happy his record label went under. I’m not happy that he went bankrupt. I’m not happy that he doesn’t have a relationship with his son. That’s not something to be happy about. But to see him parading around, still able to hold his head up every day, with all of that weighing on him — that makes me happy. I admire him for being able to hold his head up in a city that has revoked all of his passes. We’ve had a quite enjoyable past, and I still smile when I see him.”
