Entertainment Titans Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey were once tighter than a pair of panty hose 2 sizes small. But the media moguls recently parted ways over creative and professional differences.
Rumor has it that Oprah grew tired of the gay direction that Perry was taking all of his shows in.
According to the Daily Mail, “things grew tense” between Oprah and Perry when she suggested he hire new writers to develop his shows with less gay-themed content.
Perry, 46, reportedly blew up at one of their meetings when Oprah, 62, presented market research that proved viewers were being turned off by the rampant homosexuality.
“He told her, ‘Aren’t the shows delivering ratings for the network? Well, then let me do what I do and you can keep your focus group research to yourself,” reveals the source.
The source said Perry’s outburst surprised Oprah and the two stopped communicating with each other.
“Gone were the days of them having long phone conversations and texting late into the night,” said the source.
Things really went south when Oprah found out that Perry was taking the credit for turning Oprah’s Network around from a failing business to a profitable one.
Oprah’s OWN Network was doing poorly in the ratings before Perry stepped in and saved the network by producing hit scripted TV programs.
Now Oprah is resentful that, not only did he save her network from failing, but he’s bragging about it in magazine interviews, such as the December 28, 2015 issue of New York Magazine. The headline read: “The Brand Keeping Oprah in Business.”
“She knows Tyler is a micromanaging control freak and she felt that he was aware of the story’s title and didn’t make sure it was killed,” the source told the Mail.
