ABC sitcom Modern Family will feature a cross-dressing child on Wednesday night’s episode.
8-year-old Jackson Millarker, from Atlanta, will be the first cross-dressing child actress ever featured in a TV show.
Jackson, who is acting in her first major role, plays the part of Tom, a child who suffers from Gender Dysphoria.
The episode titled “A Stereotypical Day” features Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) as the gay parents of a 9-year-old daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons).
The episode involves Lily bringing her confused friend Tom home for a play date.
The gay parents are proud that they raised Lily to be so open-minded and accepting of Tom, who prefers masculine clothing and displays the stereotypical characteristics of a boy.
But when Lily insults Tom, both Mitchell and Cameron are disappointed and they use the incident to reinforce their gay agenda.
Gender dysphoria is a mental disorder that causes individuals to reject the biological sex they were born as.
Other cross-dressing teens on television include Jazz Jennings, 15, who has his own reality show on TLC, titled I Am Jazz.
“A Stereotypical Day” airs on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC Network.
