Troubled singer Kanye West assaulted a gym staffer before he was hospitalized on an emergency psychiatric hold Monday.

West, 39, was hospitalized after his personal physician, Dr. Michael Farzam, called 911 to report West was experiencing “temporary psychosis” due to “dehydration and sleep deprivation”.

LAPD officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, but West had calmed down by then.

Still, Dr. Farzam told police he was placing West on a 5150, a 72-hour psychiatric hold, and he wanted the rapper transported to the hospital.

West resisted and he was physically restrained by police and handcuffed to a gurney before being transported to UCLA Medical Center, where he was admitted under the alias “Jim Jones”.

Under California law, a person can be held for 72 hours if a doctor determines he is a danger to himself or others due to mental illness.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, canceled an appearance at a benefit in NYC to rush back to Los Angeles on Monday.

West’s hospitalization prompted skepticism because he canceled his popular Saint Pablo Tour just hours earlier.

West and his tour promoter Live Nation would have left $30 million on the table after canceling the remaining 27 dates on the north American leg of the tour.

Insurance covers West, Live Nation and the venues in the event of a disaster. But the Saint Pablo Tour was canceled without explanation.

Skeptics believe West may be faking a mental breakdown to collect on the insurance.

The father-of-2 portrayed a mental patient and even reeled off symptoms that a mental patient would experience in his song titled “I Feel Like That”.
