A Denver car salesman died after posting a Facebook Live video demonstrating a Maserati Ghibli going from zero to 111 mph.
Brandon Guy Gianopoulos, 24, died sometime Friday night after the Maserati he was driving lost control, went airborne and landed in a ditch near C-470 and Lucent Boulevard.
Gianopoulos posted a Facebook Live video demonstrating the high performance vehicle going from zero to 111 mph. The video cuts out seconds later.
A passing motorist spotted the mangled wreckage in the ditch Saturday morning around 10 am, and called police.
Gianopoulos was alone in the car at the time of the accident. His exact time of death is unknown, but he posted the Facebook Live video at 7:25 pm Friday. Police say “reckless speeds” was a factor in the crash.
Gionapoulos was a well-liked car salesman for Mike Ward Maserati and Infiniti dealership in Denver.
One of the perks of his job was easy access to the high performance vehicles he loved.
The dealership where he worked is about a mile from the crash site.
“Brandon was a wonderful young man who will be deeply missed by his family and by his coworkers at Mike Ward Automotive,” Mike Ward said in a statement to CBS4. “It is impossible for us to understand why these things happen and we are all extremely saddened by this tragedy.”
Friends and family took to Facebook.com to remember the skateboarding enthusiast and fitness buff who had a bright future ahead of him.
One co-worker wrote:
“You always made me laugh at work. You were a shinning [sic] start [sic]. I enjoyed our time together. I am devastated by the way we lost you! I hope you are already having fun in heaven! I will never forget you buddy!”
