Two Dominican radio hosts were shot and killed during a live broadcast on Facebook.com on Tuesday.
FM 103 radio host Luis Manuel Medina was broadcasting live on his Facebook page when viewers heard 2 loud bangs off camera.
Medina continued reading the news despite what sounded like gunshots going off in the background.
Seconds later a woman is heard frantically yelling “shots, shots, shots”. Medina’s eyes track someone moving toward his right. He continued reading the news, seemingly unaware of the imminent danger.
The video feed abruptly ended, but photos circulating on social media show Medina lying face down in a pool of blood in the studio. His murder was not captured on camera.
Also killed was Leonidas Martinez, who was a producer and the program manager at radio station FM 103 in the Dominican Republic. Martinez was killed in his office adjacent to the studio.
Police arrested 3 suspects but none have been charged in the shooting. Dayanna Garcia de Fernandez, the station’s secretary, was also shot. She required emergency surgery but she is expected to survive.
Medina, who was also the voice of a sports team, leaves behind a wife and a daughter. He is pictured above right and center with his wife.
