“I hope you live with pain and shame and guilt for the rest of your life”
A scorned South Carolina woman left several bitter suicide notes for her estranged husband after killing their two children and his mistress.
In one note, Jessica Edens, pictured left, said her estranged husband, Ben, had been cheating on her with Meredith Rahme, 28, for about a year. Jessica and Ben were locked in a bitter custody battle for their two kids, a 9-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter.
She shot and killed her 2 children and Rahme before turning the gun on herself on July 13.
The suicide notes, 911 audio, and 100 pages of case files were made public in response to a Freedom of Information request by The Greenville News.
“You have caused me more pain that I’ve ever been in in my life. You have caused my children pain. I hope you rot one day for what you have done to me and my kids,” Jessica wrote in one of the suicide letters, according to the Greenville News.
Ben and Rahme worked together at Michelin and both lived together at Main+Stone Apartments after Ben moved out and left Jessica and the kids.
Jessica stalked Rahme, 28, and shot her to death on July 13 while she sat in her vehicle on the third floor of her apartment complex’s parking garage.
After killing Rhame, Jessica placed a final phone call to her estranged husband.
Records obtained by the newspaper reveals Jessica told him: “Everyone you love is gone. Do you hear me? I’m about to be gone too.”
When Ben tried to call Jessica back, the call went straight to voicemail, according to the documents.
After leaving the parking garage in Greenville, Jessica drove 7 miles to the Greenville-PIckens Speedway in Easley.
Two hours later, police discovered her locked SUV parked at the speedway. Her body along with the bodies of her two children were found inside the vehicle.
Three suicide notes were recovered from the vehicle.
One note, addressed to Jessica’s parents and sister, said:
“I am so sorry for the pain I am causing all of you. You’ve all always been there for me and I love you all so much. I know what I have done is selfish, but I cannot live with this pain any longer. I just cannot handle it. It is too much. It hurts too much. I will no longer be in pain and my children will no longer hurt either. I am so so sorry. I love you all.”
