Comedian D.L. Hughley revealed he sired a secret lovechild who was killed by his mistress’ boyfriend years ago. Hughley shared how he revealed his secret son to his wife of 31 years, LaDonna Hughley.
During a guest appearance on Angela Yee‘s Lip Service Podcast, the Soul Plane star admitted he sired a baby boy early in his career.
He said he accepted responsibility for the boy and made child support payments, but the toddler died after his lover’s boyfriend shook the tot too hard.
“I had knocked this chick up and had the baby and the baby got killed by her boyfriend,” he said. “It was a horrible, horrible experience. I had this baby that I’m paying for. I’m a boy, I was scared, I was married. I was just starting out my career.”
Hughley continued: “I get a call from my boy and he says, ‘Your son is in the hospital’. So, I go to the hospital and this boy was laying on the bed. Apparently, her boyfriend had shaken him and damaged his brain.”
Hughley said he kept the baby and his death a secret from his wife for several years, but when he finally opened up to her about the tragedy, he was surprised by her reaction.
“Finally, one day I tell my wife and you know what she said to me? ‘I wish you would have told me this and we could’ve went through this together’.”
The actor and his wife share three grown children together — daughters Ryan Nicole and Tyler Whitney, and son Kyle.
