Before Frank Ski returned to the morning show on V-103 in Atlanta, he filed for federal Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection with debts exceeding $1 million, the AJC’s Rodney Ho reports on his AJC Radio & TV Talk blog.
Ski, 53, who returned to V-103 as weekday host last week, divorced his wife of 20 years, Tanya Parker, in 2015 and recently remarried.
Last year, Parker filed a motion of contempt in state court after Ski fell behind on child support payments for their three high school-age sons Blake, Harrison and Franklin.
Bankruptcy doesn’t protect a man’s assets from family court.
A previous story on the AJC painted a rosy picture of Frank Ski and Parker’s amicable divorce and co-parenting duties. He had nothing but praise for his ex-wife.
“We’ve always maintained a great friendship,” he said in an article published in June 2017. “They definitely got her brains. It wasn’t mine. I was the C student. They get their sense of discipline from her, they get their sense of order from her.
“The kids are definitely both of us,” he added. “You’ve got to be able to work together, keep the kids first.”
Parker agreed. “Seek God in all you do,” she said. “Pray for patience and accept the things you can’t change. Always put the needs of the children first. Remember they are innocent, and can’t choose their parents, or make them stay together.”
Never one to hide details of his personal life from his radio audience, Ski talked about his financial woes with co-host Wanda Smith on V-103 Wednesday morning.
Smith asked him whether ego may have played into some of his mistakes. He admitted that yes, that is true. “It’s hard to admit you fail,” he said. “I was arrogant.”
