The lawyer for a former Fort Valley State employee is disputing allegations that she is a madam who pimped out members of a sorority on the campus.
Adrian Patrick, the attorney representing Alecia Johnson, says his client is innocent and the allegations are false.
Johnson is at the center of a federal investigation into a sex ring operating within the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Fort Valley State.
“I have no evidence of her having done anything improper or criminal,” said Patrick in a telephone interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday.
“You don’t want to go to work every day with people saying you are a madam,” Patrick said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the University System of Georgia conducted an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and hazing in the university’s AKA chapter.
Johnson, who sat on the AKA chapter council, resigned her job as the university’s special events director the day after the scandal broke in the news.
The GBI brought in more agents to investigate the allegations of sexual misconduct and hazing at the urban college, about 100 miles south of Atlanta.
Johnson is accused of introducing sorority members to local businessmen and politicians who were willing to pay the students for escort services.
The young ladies used the extra cash to pay for school tuition and books.
Johnson’s lawyer said GBI officials searched her home and computer for evidence.
