Spike Lee released the trailer for his new race war comedy BlacKkKlansman on Monday. Produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out), BlacKkKlansman stars John David Washington as a black cop who infiltrates the KKK.
Pictured at the Cannes Film Festival premiere are the film’s stars (L-R) John David Washington, Laura Harrier, Adam Driver, and director Spike Lee, who wears knuckle rings with “love” and “hate” on them.
The comedy is based on a true story about Colorado Springs’ first black police officer, Ron Stallworth, who went undercover in the KKK to stop a race attack.
Adam Driver plays a white cop who stood in for Stallworth as he communicated with KKK Grand Wizard David Duke (Topher Grace) over the phone.
Washington is the son of acting legend Denzel Washington. BlacKkKlansman is Washington’s fourth role in a Spike Lee-directed movie.
The movie is set for release on August 10.
