Facebook is not the place to share your conservative beliefs — as a popular mommy blogger quickly learned after she was suspended a second time for saying gender confusion was a “mental illness”.
Facebook suspended mommy blogger Elizabeth Johnston for saying gender confusion was a “mental illness” — even though she is technically correct.
Gender confusion — or its medical term Gender Dysphoria — is listed as a mental disorder in the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5), which is published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
Johnston, who runs the popular blog Activist Mommy, announced her suspension in a post dated August 24, 2018.
She said she was suspended for 7 days after she shared an article about an Ohio judge who refuses to approve name changes for gender confused teenagers.
“This is what bullying looks like in 2018!” the Christian blogger wrote. “‘Normalize our mental illness or we will sue you!’ Small minds must use these tactics. Pathetic!”
Johnston asked a logical question about transgenders who need hormones.
“If it is not an illness, why does it need a “treatment”?”
She also shared the message she received from Facebook explaining why she can’t update her account or use Facebook Messenger for seven days.
In a tweet last week, President Trump put Twitter, Facebook and Google on notice that he is looking into their alleged censorship of conservative voices. Trump tweeted his concerns after a Google search of his name returned only leftwing articles.
Google quickly responded that it is not censoring rightwing websites or blogs in Google search.
