Millie Bobby Brown defended her relationship with rapper Drake. The 14-year-old sparked controversy on social media after she said she and the 31-year-old rapper exchanged texts “all the time.”
The “Stranger Things” star opened up about their odd friendship to Access Hollywood while on the red carpet at the 2018 Emmy Awards.
“I love him. I met him in Australia, and he’s honestly so fantastic,” she gushed. “He’s a great friend and a role model. We just texted each other the other day and he was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like, ‘I miss you more.'”
Her statements were not well received by parents who are wary of their teenagers meeting older men online. Many parents worry that the teenager’s statement will influence their daughters to fall victim to older men online or via text messages.
But Brown shrugged off the criticism, saying people should focus on real world problems and stay out of her business.
“Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird,” she wrote in a note posted on her Instagram Stories. Th 14-year-old previously stated Drake gives her advice on boys.
“Im lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance,” she said. “Im very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U don’t get to choose that for me.”
She added: “It’s nice to have people understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
So far, the teenager’s parents haven’t commented on her relationship with the promiscuous rapper,.
In related news, Drake reportedly gave an 11-year-old heart patient an iPhone so she can “keep in touch with him.”
Sofia Sanchez, who was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, went viral on YouTube when she performed Drake’s “In My Feelings” challenge while awaiting a new heart transplant.
Drake visited Sanchez in the hospital, days before she received a new heart in late August.
During an interview on the Today Show this week, Sanchez revealed Drake gave her an iPhone so she could call him whenever she wanted.
“He said that when I got out of the hospital and I could go around more people, he said he’s gonna bring me up onstage and sing God’s Plan to me,” she gushed.
Drake continues to raise eyebrows over his inappropriate contact with young girls.
The rapper is reportedly dating 18-year-old socialite Bella Harris, whose father is legendary music producer Jimmy Jam. He waited until the young model turned 18 before taking their relationship public.
