GLAAD is celebrating a record year for the highest percentage of LGBT characters on broadcast television, cable TV and the web for the first time in 2018.
In its annual ‘Where We Are On TV‘ report GLAAD saw an overall 9 percent growth in LGBT characters in broadcast television history. And a 31% increase in television shows featuring the most LGBT characters from the 2017-18 season.
The report also noted more LGBT people of color were featured on TV than white LGBT characters.
“Among those characters, 22 percent are black, 8 percent Latinx [sic] and 8 percent Asian Pacific Islander, which represents a historical high for black characters and a tie with last year’s findings on Latinx [sic] characters.”
The report mentioned shows such as The Conners, which replaced Roseanne, Will & Grace, Supergirl, Empire and How to Get Away with Murder as the sow featuring the most LGBT characters on broadcast television.
The report did not mention Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, which features the first ghey male couple in Atlanta franchise history.
Prince Carter and Zachary Jones (pictured above), will be featured on the Atlanta franchise, according to The YBF.
Back in 2015, Miles Brock and Milan Christopher were introduced as the first ghey couple to star on the Love & Hip Hop franchise. They were featured on the Hollywood series.
According to The Blast, Prince Carter, who is from the DMV area, is deeply involved in the Atlanta ghey scene. Carter is considered one of the top socialites in Atlanta (I’ve never heard of him), and he has become close to LHHATL stars such as Karlie Redd, Mimi Faust, Momma Dee, Bambi and Erica Dixon.
Carter is featured in photos with close friends Lauren London and Justin Combs — Sean Combs’ progeny, who is rumored to be ghey himself.
Zachary Jones is an Instagram model who regularly works with Fashion Nova.
In related news, your auntie keeps hearing about a new reality TV series being filmed in Atlanta that features a cast of all Black ghey male doctors! I met one of the cast members, a doctor who is bound by a nondisclosure agreement. This hunky doc will make the ladies swoon. Unfortunately, he likes what you ladies like!
I think the show will flop if they don’t feature at least one lesbian doctor in the cast.
