A “lost” Whitney Houston track was remixed and released digitally by DJ-producer Kygo on Friday, 7 years after her death.
The track is a cover of Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” that was originally released in 1990 in Japan only as a bonus track on her 1990 album I’m Your Baby Tonight.
The new version of “Higher Love” was remixed as a dance track by Norwegian DJ-producer Kygo. Winwood’s version was originally released in 1986 and hit No. 1 on the pop chart.
Whitney died at age 48 in 2012. She is best known for her soaring vocals and 11 No. 1 hits including her biggest-selling platinum single “I Will Always Love You”.

I loved WH and I miss her…. It’s a yes for this remix
I can dig it
Winwood’s version was originally released in 1996 and hit No. 1 on the pop chart.
^^^^^^
1986. And Chaka Khan salty ass sang backup in original
Chaka???….well damn yew learn somn new everyday
She was in the video too I do belee. Showing all of my age. But this song was on a soundtrack to one of my fave movies as a kid. Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin. Big Business
Giiirl yew do not hold in yo disdain fa Chaka
It’s sad that Whitney didn’t have any other unreleased music left. Unlike Prince(r.i.p.) whom can release an album a year of unreleased music for DECADES!
Yes that is sad because I am a diehard WH fan? ?
damn I miss her…..I wonder if and where I can still watch episodes of her and Bobby B show that they did?
Thanks.
TI sister got her ass dragggged in death over dying due to coke. In the words of one poster here “there is nothing cute about an old drug head”. Gonna take that and apply it to her. It’s different when they are your fave I see. Folks were mad MAD in the post yesterday about her. She not my fave tho so meh. *shrug*
She didn’t hardly write anything. All the songwriters leave a lot of material behind
It’s on YouTube
Salty? Lol, you are being too nice.
Phil Collins – Higher Love. I like it none the less though.
Well old loudmouth coke whore didn’t go over too well last night sis. So Salty it is.
She is being sued by a former manager according to TMZ. LOL
Whitney is a legend that was gone way too soon. At work now but I’ll give it a listen later. I like Kuti so I’m sure it’s a hit
Just read thanks to you. Lady said she was screwed out of a lot of money. I believe her.
I was prepared to dislike the track, but instantly fell in love. Listened to it 5 times back to back.
TY. That was one funny-azz show.
I think yew will enjoy it
Who better Beyoncé or Whitney?
Whitney!
Whitney could sing!
Loudmouth coke whore is more descriptive and fitting. ????
I like it
I love Chaka Khan, but she is what she is. Being a druggie doesn’t change my love for her music. But, that’s just me. ??
I still cannot believe that Whitney, Michael and Prince are dead. Whitney’s bff Robin is releasing a tell all book in November or October.
I heard it on the radio about two weeks ago. I liked it.
“All the songwriters leave a lot of material behind”
Aretha didn’t leave any behind & she wrote a lot of her songs & was an accomplished pianist. She said after she recorded what she was suppose to record in the studio she was out of there. She said she didn’t live in the studio like Prince did.
You been riding her @ss hard this week. Then, I read that over there. I just sighed, and thought you must know what you’re talking bout. SMH
Finally we can get the real juice not that artificial flavor juice
Why?
You can also see the Whitney Documentary that is very revealing and read Cissy’s autobio, which is a must read.
????? I love it
Aretha didnt write like that. Sorry. She didnt. Last song she wrote that even charted if I am not mistaken was Who’s Zoomin Who. The few she did write were smash hits.
This. I agree
Aretha wrote songs on each of her album, per her autobio Respect. Because she was aware of writer’s royalties. However, not every song she wrote was RELEASED, that makes a big difference.
My point is she was a songwriter that didn’t leave any EXTRA music for her estate to release and profit off of. Even though she had the gift. But I guess not every artist was as prolific as Prince(r.i.p.) was.
Okay
This concern you: what’s the song called by Teddy P. Which goes higha, higha? Lol Gonna play it when we get home. Thanks
“You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration”..
Thank you, thank you. I wanna play it back. Have a good weekend.
The VOICE…
Music is just OK but hearing that voice from 1989, and all its power and exuberance, gives me goosebumps.
I think Chaka Khan sang this song with this dude long time ago too… I miss Whitney so much!… RIP Queen.
Whitney of course….
With Steve Wynwood–
