Taryn Manning’s fans feared for her safety after she appeared to suffer an emotional breakdown in a series of posts on Instagram.
On Saturday the 40-year-old actress explained to fans why she missed the season 7 red carpet premiere of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black earlier in the week.
Manning plays fictional convict Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett. She has appeared in every season since the series premiere in 2013. She is seen here in a promotional photo from the show.
Although she didn’t name OITNB, Manning wrote that the “show hurt me more than anything has in my life” and “not one cast member cares about me.”
Manning accused an unnamed individual of “cyber stalking” her and she said her “life was stolen from a criminal who’s mentally ILL.”
She added, “No one cares to help so I am dedicated to learning how to make a difference.”
“l have to speak out before anything happens to me. F— fame! This show hurt humans. You will never truly know but many were hurt!”
She concluded by writing, “Not one cast member cares about me. Just watch.”
Manning’s rambling posts prompted co-star Lori Petty to respond, “Hey. I love you”.
“Thx bubs I know you do,” Manning replied. “And I love you. I am giving up everything to speak on how awful this career is and how awful we are treated.”
Manning’s rant seemed to be brought on by the pressure she was under not knowing if she would return to the Netflix series every season.
“How I never knew if I was coming back yet I had seven optional seasons. How I didn’t even know how to plan my life, organize anything cause everything was a secret. Self serving bulls—, for whatever sick agenda. How some of the most dear characters were just not there anymore. My pals. F— this show. This show hurt me so bad.”
Manning played a woman diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the 2016 independent film A Light Beneath Their Feet.
