After dealing with the folks at Bellsouth/AT&T all morning, I now have a serious headache. I was told that “unfortunately” my request to expedite an appointment today to set up my DSL was denied by some moron in the engineering department at ATT. This despite the fact that I spoke with the tech who told me he could come out today if they put in the request.
If I didn’t know any better I would think this was personal. But no one over at AT&T has time to read my site do they?
So thanks to that moron in engineering, I now have to wait until Monday for my DSL hookup. This would be a moot point if Comcast serviced my complex, but they don’t until later this month when AT&T loses its contract to service this complex with cable. Hmmm I wonder why AT&T lost the contract?
It couldn’t be due to their sterling customer service could it? And AT&T wonders why they are losing business to Comcast which offers home phone service without changing the number you have now.
I just spoke with a friend who was a longtime AT&T customer but she made that switch to Comcast home phone service and she says her monthly phone bill is just $29.99 per month for one year. That just about crushes AT&T’s ridiculously high phone bills doesn’t it? I won’t be sad to see AT&T put out of business by Comcast. In fact I’ll be the FIRST to report it when it happens.
Who has AT&T/Bell South what a joke
BUT SANDRA WATCH OUT FOR COMCAST TO, I GOT THE TRIPLE PLAY AND SUPPOSE TO PAY 100.00 A MONTH, I AINT NEVA SEEN A 100.00 BILL YET, MY BILLS BE DAMN NEAR 200.00 ALL FROM TAXES URGGGGGGGGGGGG
AT&T customer stinks it sucks very badly, I have direcpath, they have excellent customer service!!! I will never ever get AT&T again, I dont like waitinig on the **damn** phone for more then five minutes I need my problem resolve quick fast and a hurry thats me all day.:)+
we just don’t have this prob in nc. you either have sprint where you get direct tv for your viewing OR you have time warner where you get digital cable for viewing. both are $150 per month (or under if you catch a special) for all 3.
i can’t believe the ATL is so technology service challenged.
Well when I moved I called MCI 2 weeks before was giving a new number and everything it took almost a month before my phone service was on. They gave me a credit because it was a verizon line that had issues so they had to wait for verizon. But I thought one bought the other???? Oh well after my phone was turned on I switched to verizon!!!
I was in search of a new land line provider and everyone wants you to have an exisiting ISP. I just bought a house and relied upon my cell for phone service. Verizon doesn’t offer home phone service in my area (McDonough Georgia). My mother works for AT&T / Bellsouth / Southern Bell for the last 30 yrs and she talks about how terrible their services are. They nickle and dime the hell out of you and have the nerve to bill you 1 1/2 months in advanced. What a joke!
Down South can’t get DSL can they
This is exactly why I switched. Their customer service has went from bad to SUPER WORSE since partnering with ATT. I argued with them for 2 straight weeks about a 2nd phone line they gave me when I moved that I didn’t ask for & on top of that it didn’t even work. They refused to credit my account. They suck!!!!
Oh wow @ LovelyLady – I just started w/ Comcast – so far so good, totally better than Verizon. I havea triple play as well. What type of taxes increase your bill by so much if you don’t mind me asking?? Where state are you in?
^^^ I don’t know all I knwo is all the extra stuff they add say TAXES,
I’m in DC
And I don’t order no movies or ne thing, but my bill be like 150+ so be careful
Sandra, i just switched the landline to Comcast a couple weeks ago…Their customer serviced sucked for me..they showed up 2 hours late and didnt even apologized but wanted to reschedule the appointment..Hopefully we have no surprises on the bill
Customer service from both companies just sucks! Comcast’s phone service isn’t that great plus it’d screwed up my alarm system. When I canceled the phone (not apart of that triple play deal) Comcast still wants to charge me for the service every month AND will have the gaul to cut off my internet and cable. Each time the “service reps” apologize and tell me that they’ve corrected my account, yet each month my service is interrupted and they have to credit my account. – This has occurred each month since April. Each company has their pros and cons I guess, but I will admit that Comcast’s internet is the better choice over DSL.
I am in Ohio and I have at&t for phone and DSL and Time Warner for cable and they all suck. I have never had a positive interaction with a phone or cable company. Even back when I had my phone with Ameritech those B’s were just rude. I think it is a phone company thing. Sorry to all the nice phone people but your co-workers give you a bad rep.
Let me let you know before you start praising Comcast they ain’t no better than AT&T. See they are trying to get your business here in Boston we have been dealign with them for many years and they SUCK too. So please don’t think you are getting anything better by swithcing to COMCAST they are just trying to get your business right now by making it seem they provide excellent this and that when they are just like At&T. After the first year that $29.99 phone service will then become $79.99 and each feature will be added at an additional cost. At least you all have options right now here in Massachusetts we are limited to just ComCast for cable and Dish Network and DirectTV. For DSL just Comcast and Verizon a BellSOuth family member and phone service is the same so if you switch to Comcast just know after that year you will then begin to see there true colors as well.
damn, damn, damn! i haven’t had cable since they switched to digital (i had basic prior to that)…i just cancalled my internet (it was dial-up thru netzero, yall don’t clown me it was strictly for work)…if anyone knows of any bootleg cable guys in chicago, let me know (i’m dead serious)…i need to get some type of internet going, but i’m so undecided…i also need to get some type of cable so i can watch my flat screen (a gift i’ve never turned on lol)
Not that I’m defending AT&T, but I haven’t had any issues with them and I’ve had them for 3 years. I guess I never needed to bother them, and when I did call about a promotion to reduce my bill, they offered me something better. And I have DirecTV with one of the old plans that get everything that people pay triple for now. I just hate when it friggin rains!
@bloggergirlz once you turn on that flat screen you will never go back. I have a Samsung Full Hd and I scream at my kids everyday to close my darn blinds before someone breaks in and steals my tv lol
@ shunda: lol! whenever i have company my friends and fam ask do i ever turn it on? $hit is like decoration (for now)…
i have comcast for cable and internet and vonage for phone service. comcast customer service is terrible depending on the problem but i would take them anyday over att. i just cant wait until verizon brings there fios service to atlanta and comcast has competition so they can drive down prices
AT & T wanted to charge me $85 for the phone and internet (called on Tuesday)….They send you thru some mess for the bundle (major credit card needed), and it’s satellite, not regular cable!
So I called Comcast for the Cable…..when I told them about the Phone(I would have been over $200 for both), they offered me the Triple Play…$125 for all three….my first bill’s gonna be $180 ( I have to pay $80 on installation), then $156 a month…now they said that included taxes….we gon see….
I called AT & T right back, and cancelled the phone and internet…
LOL
@ Bloggergirlz:
Good luck on finding the man for a hookup….They been be crackin down on the bootleg in the CHI….LOL
Sometimes you might come across the cable guy that will do the hook ups…..all it takes is a little courage, to ask:
“Do you install on your personal time?” LOL
You’d be suprised….
Sandra I think you should email The CEO, Comcast would have “NEVER” done this.
@katgirl33: girl, they have been cutting down big tine! i’ve been hearing it’s harder because of digital, but i’m waiting on this hispanic girl to hook me up w/ her peeps…i ain’t gone lie i used that line before…
“Do you install on your personal time?”
If you can afford comcast after the first promotional year, its the best and fastest IP. At&t is the cheapest for internet/phone in Sacramento all year round IMO without a promo, but I hate to call in,you have to wait a long time.I use Comcast now but its kinda expensive.
shunda Says:

Dat is the truth, once i got one for my living room i got rid of my big screen in my room and got another flat screen hd……sometimes my eyes hurt though the pic so damn clear lol
No more landline for me. Only have internet through AT&T (DSL)19.00 per month and cell phone for my main phone.
Ever since AT&T and Bellsouth merged, things have been jacked up. They need to watch it because they are losing employees. And girl no, they can’t read your blog, because you’re banned at ALL AT&T and Bellsouth locations. Not business related so you can’t access it. I used to work there so I know…
There is too much red tape over there and people really don’t care if you get hooked up or not….
even though i got stuck with att’s cellphone service ( it’s a long story lol), i have always hated att’s dsl. i had them back in 2000-2001, the speed was horrible and the dsl kept somehow getting knocked out. then when i moved , because they didn’t have att in this area at the time these mofuggers tried to charge me a $200 fee because i had to have the service disconnected. it was a year before they even got service in this area. they wanted me to still pay for the crappy dsl even though i couldn’t use it. i am happ[y to say i have been a very happy comcast customer since then. lol
Sandra… i feel you.. you think you had it bad, how about i had 3 negative experiences within a month! I had someone move out of my house recently and they did not pay their cable/internet bill with time warner. do you know that time warner set me up for a tech to come and install and on the day of installation they said they could not due to the person that had a bill prior in my house!! and on top of that they refused to immediately credit my card and said i had to wait a month for a refund #$%%^^$#%! so after cursing them out, i then called clear wire. i explained to them that i have a desktop computer not a laptop and asked if they have service in my area since i am in the woods far far away from ninjas. The lady says there is no service for modems and i would have to get the plug in they use for the laptop. now i ask the lady if i can use that in my home comp and she says yes. the chic takes my money and schedules someone to come out same day and i take off work thinking someones actually coming. the hour the rep is to come i call and she says hes running late and will be there in an hour, i then call an hour later and she says that he wont make it but she will. she doesnt call back and i call her, she asks if i can come to the bldg to pick up the kit and i can install it myself!! lol i said fine ef it bc i need service immediately. i go there and get the goods and take it home, come to find out it does not fix/work on my comp.. now im ready to raise all kinds of hell after finding out she could not credit my money after running it that day. ohh yeah she was reported to her mgr and im sure nothing was done to her but i needed to vent! last but not least with at&t/bellsouth, this cheapazzz modem has to be constantly reset in order to work or i have to leave my comp on just to maintain access… i wish there was another way…
I was with Bellsouth before they were bought out by AT& T and not two months into the conversion I started having problems needless to say I am now a faithful COMCAST customer!
I tried to get internet through AT&t ONLY because my apartment complex didn’t offer Comcast. Those fools couldn’t figure out whether I was eligible in my area or not. Every time I called someone said I was, then the next person I talked to said I wasn’t. I gave up. 5 months later Comcast was installed in our complex. Basically AT&T pushed me right into Comcast’s open arms. It took a week after I ordered it to get it hooked up but they came exactly when they said they would.
I guess Im the only ATT lover here. I have their DSL and their wireless plan. The only issue I have is that they outsource their tech department so no one can really understand whats going on unless it fits one of the problems they were taught when they accepted the job

WOW I have to say that I actually work for AT&T (right here in Atlanta). I can say that neither Comcast or ATT are better than one another. As far as customer service goes, I work in that field, and honestly it depends on who you get on the line when you call. As with any company you have your good employees and then you have your bad, but I can say that the consumer comes first in my book. If you call and you aren’t given excellent customer service, then you the consumer have many options, report it to a manager and etc. Bottom line… it’s your dollar that is being spent, and those companies are gonna gladly take them whether you are satisfied or not. It’s up to you to report it………..
Everybody sucks ass. I had AT&T phone service & they suck in addition to poor cust. serv. I have DirectTV for and they’re great until they lock you in a 2 yr contract…then they start treating you like crap. As far as Comcast goes, I’m not only a customer; I’m an employee. From the Cust. Serv. Rep. point of view, Comcast has the most spoiled and non-paying customers. I get a headache everyday dealing with pain-in-the-ass customers. People can’t expect to get something for nothing. Technology blows, and there will be times when you won’t have service. Just deal with it peeps..
