I do not think this was a publicity stunt at all. I am on TEAM BOTH of them and wish them the best. I say therapy for everybody and a fresh start for all.
it figures…they’re young, rich and in love. whether it’s true or not, i’m sure they’ll both be in intense counseling and have better guidance after this incident…so it’s a win-win for both of them.
I dont like all these Ike Turner refernces and battered woman syndrome comments on other blogs. I mean if he/she speaks out and says thats what it was ok but until then I need more facts than sources and industry insiders. It seems like her family(father, cousin and uncle) have all made comments about the bruises and situation not being as bad as the media is making it out to be. Again I wasnt there and dont know what happened. I will say although these are real people this is better than any daytime soap..lol I am praying for them both though.

I don’t think it was a publicity stunt. I think they had a fight in which Chris of course got the best of her. He always will. People seemed to forget that women don’t always leave after they get beat down by their male mate. I don’t know that they are back together, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were. Maybe going forward Chris will be careful not to leave visible signs of abuse when he flurries on her. That’s what my abusive ex did after giving me a black eye. The 5 years I stayed with him after that first incident he never punch me again. He just choked. Eventually Rihanna will get tired of it and leave, but that could be years from now.
@Bird so you dont think Chris at 19 can get help and change his strips? I am not ready to label his as the new age Ike Turner. I like to see and hope for the best in people. If he gets counseling and deals with his demons I believe he can move forward and not lay hands on her or any other female again. Rickey Smily talked about jumping on his ex wife and how he has yet to lay hands on another woman.

i agree with you. i am a believer in redemption and change. if a person is open and willing to change/work on themselves, the possibilities are endless. i feel like they’re both young enough to get the help they need to grow and learn from this situation.
Look at all the headlines on the magazine cover. $23 shoes, Jen to meet with Angie. Not sure it would be in Rihs best interest to stay, but I would not be surprised if she does. Women stay and forgive and drop charges everyday.

Its not their fault that the media took this situation and completely blew it out of proportion…without knowing the facts…It goes from one thing to the next, look how they are purposely starting shyt and trying to give people bad press by putting other entertainers on the spot and asking them how they feel about it….GOD forbid they say something in Chris’s favor…at this point everybody is either not commenting at all or taking advantage of the good press and speaking badly about the boy…its sad, but obvious. Now its gotten so bad, I honestly don’t know how Rhianna could fix it without looking bad, if Chris and she were equally damaged and the stories about him leaving her so fukked up weren’t true…her fans would probably look at her a whole different way. Im sure right now they are working on a way to make a statement that will not lead to any further Chris bashing but still leave Rhianna looking like a victim ie…”still in love” BS. Chris however is probably moving forward and willing to take the ridicule so long as he can make it right for his career and get it over with. I doubt that he will be charged with anything serious…this will let the public know that nothing like what those sources and insiders spoke of ever occured.

I know he can get help and I pray he does. That is why I was troubled by his statement. Because he didn’t say he was getting help. He said he was going to his pastor. Whatever that means. My ex got counselling from a pastor as well after I broke up with him. When we got back together he choked me one more time before we broke up for good. I think batterers would be better served by going to anger management because that is at the root of their problem. They loose control. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it one more time, I am not mad at Chris. I want him to be able to move forward from this. I don’t want him to turn into an Ike or an OJ. As for his age I went to school with two guys who beat their girlfriends, my younger cousin beat his high school girlfriend and a friend of his also beat the crap out of his girlfriend repeatedly until he finally went to prison for setting her car on fire with her in it or something pyro related. You don’t have to be a certain age to be an abuser.

If she’s still with him I wouldn’t be surprised, classic battered person’s syndrome is to stay and “fix” it. She’ll learn (hopefully). The only thing that would surprise me is, if that episode was the first time they got physical.
Hello all. My sister once told me that if we can’t forgive others that God will not forgive us. Do we want someone else to hold our key to heaven? Can forgive him but forget is the question. (It would be fresh on my mind all the time.) He’d have to walk on water before I’d take him back. But they are two young, beautiful talented people and we should wish them the best. After all, I bet someone has gone up side yo head a time or two, especially if you’re my age.(55 in May) Peace.
like my momma always says, “keep on having birthdays”. in other words, as we grow and experience life, our perspective will and should change. if you choose to be an unforgiving person, then expect that same energy to come back to you. when i was twenty-something, there was an endless list of ish i wouldn’t put up with, wouldn’t take off a man, blah, blah, blah. after being married ten plus years and developing a deeper relationship with God (trying to walk the walk), i’m in a much more forgiving and humble place. i’ve made my fair share of mistakes and who’s to say one person’s sin is greater than the next person’s?? last time i checked, there aren’t varying degrees of sin – sin is sin!
i’m a cancer survivor, so maybe i’m a little more optimistic about life experiences and how they change you than most people are. people can and do change for the better even if they’ve done horrible things in their past.

@Bird I told you the other day just because he did NOT say he was seeking help/counseling from a professional doesnt mean he isnt. If he needs anger mangement help his mama will see to it that he gets it. Also his pastor may be licensed in couinseling or they may have a counseling ministry with a licensed thearpist like my church and others in the area does. I am thinking she may have known before now but was in denial and felt guilty that he needed it because of what he saw her go through (yes I know thats a big leap) I know there are young abusers and victims of domestic violence.

I don’t think it was a publicity stunt, but I also don’t think it was as bad as the media made it sound. Three of her family members said her “injuries” were nothing foreal and that the media blew it out of proportion…this was prob. a fight that someone was just around to witness and they called the cops. They are young…hopefully they have learned to keep their hands to themselves regardless if it’s breaking bones, or just a push…
