As I type this, it’s a little after 4 p.m. over in London, England where I was born and spent my early childhood.
The First Lady Michelle Obama and the Queen of England are scheduled to meet today. The outcome of this meeting ought to be interesting.
My mom often repeats her favorite story about the queen — who she doesn’t very much like. When my brothers and me were little kids she took us to meet the queen on a day that the queen sets aside to personally greet her loyal subjects outside Buckingham Palace.
As the queen approached us in line, my mom extended her hand to shake the queen’s hand. But instead of shaking my mom’s hand, the queen totally ignored her and moved on to the next person in line — a white woman. To this day my mom won’t forgive the queen for that slight.
Let’s hope Michelle Obama fares better with the queen than my mom did — especially after the way the Obamas treated the PM and his wife during their visit to D.C. last month.

To quote the “S-x Pistols”…
“God save the Queen and her fascist regime”!!!
And stop acting like the Obamas’ had the PM staying at a Motel 6 in the heart of “Chocolate City”…I mean…COME ON AUNTIE!!!
You are kidding, right. Michelle will have NO problems. This is why she is the most fierce woman in the universe because she handles hers.
I heart Michelle!!! She’s so classy.
Oh OUR 1st Lady Looks GORGEEEE…….
and I like that blue dress her assistant has on..i need that in a size 12, not with those tights tho’!!
I just know those YTs over there where buck wildin’ in protest of the G-20 conference on CNN this morning.
It was admittedly tame compared to the bush years, but it was still hectic.
Good thing those weren’t OPD (oakland) cops….
I thought that was a Styrofoam cup in Michelle’s hand at first glance – I had my jokes lined up!!! Oh well =)
@Sandi
What would you talk to the Queen about, the latest gossip????
LMAOOO @ Coop.
I hope she doesn’t worry about the girls to much and can enjoy the trip. She looks nice.
go shelly from the southside.
I may be wrong but I thought you were to curtsey to the Queen not extend your hand for a hand shake.
