I just got done reading that story. I haven’t been on that site in a while so I did not realize this was recent. Hard to believe that she was pregnant and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Grandma went to check on daughter and grandson and this is what she found. That baby should have been hollering.

Maybe the police shouldn’t respond to any more calls of possible break-ins at Gates’ home? I still don’t see how the cop did anything wrong by asking the man to show ID to prove he lived in the house. There was a report of a break-in!! Once the cop saw the ID he turned to leave. It was Gates who began hurling insults at the cop and cutting the fool. I’ve seen people get arrested for less than what Gates did!

Sergeant Crowley never said the suspects were black. The media put that out there. Witnesses on the scene heard and saw Gates cutting the fool and hurling “yo mama” insults at the cop. . All he had to do was show his ID and the whole incident would have been over.
Sandra, what witnesses are you referring to? You mean witnesses that already have said that Officer Crowley is straight lying on them? What 7 witnesses gathered outside? Is he referring to the backup he eventually called? Because other police officers don’t really count as witnesses.
Officer Crowley arrested a man because his ego was insulted, maybe he was mad that Professor Gates spoke proper English to him and had the nerve to know the law well enough(former law student after all) to defend his civil rights by not stepping outside of his home. Who knows? See you can’t arrest someone for disorderly conduct in a public place in their own private home, you would have to have a complainant who was a resident in the home make that complaint first. Since Gates was home alone, and belonged to that home, there was NO REASON for arrest. That’s what normal people call a trumped up charge.

Well, as for this cop not voting, her vote doesn’t count anyways. As long as she remains a resident of Massachusetts and Barack Obama is the democratic candidate, Massachusetts will almost always vote Democratic.

Are you familiar with the East Coast and their politics on the public (Meaning Us black folks) and in particular Cambridge, MA ??? Gates is an intellectual heavy-weight and I’m quite sure that doesn’t sit well among the common YT illiterates MEANING the vast majority of the Police force that actually interact with the public at hand.
And most importantly Gates is a KNOWN commodity within that community and neighborhood so the chances that the charges aren’t BS are highly unlikely IMO

I still don’t see how the cop did anything wrong by asking the man to show ID to prove he lived in the house. There was a report of a break-in!! Once the cop saw the ID he turned to leave. Sergeant Crowley never said the suspects were black. The media put that out there. Witnesses on the scene heard and saw Gates cutting the fool and hurling “yo mama” insults at the cop. . All he had to do was show his ID and the whole incident would have been over.
Sandra, what witnesses are you referring to? You mean witnesses that already have said that Officer Crowley is straight lying on them? What 7 witnesses gathered outside? Is he referring to the backup he eventually called? Because other police officers don’t really count as witnesses.
Officer Crowley arrested a man because his ego was insulted, maybe he was mad that Professor Gates spoke proper English to him and had the nerve to know the law well enough(former law student after all) to defend his civil rights by not stepping outside of his home. Who knows? See you can’t arrest someone for disorderly conduct in a public place in their own private home, you would have to have a complainant who was a resident in the home make that complaint first. Since Gates was home alone, and belonged to that home, there was NO REASON for arrest. That’s what normal people call a trumped up charge.

What did the police officer do wrong? He investigated a break-in and he asked the person in the house to show his ID. The person began yelling and acting belligerently for no reason. All he had to do was show his ID.

Are you familiar with the East Coast and their politics on the public (Meaning Us black folks) and in particular Cambridge, MA ??? Gates is an intellectual heavy-weight and I’m quite sure that doesn’t sit well among the common YT illiterates MEANING the vast majority of the Police force that actually interact with the public at hand.
And most importantly Gates is a KNOWN commodity within that community and neighborhood so the chances that the charges aren’t BS are highly unlikely IMO

How many times have you seen 50-11 cop cars in one area because someone didnt have insurance? Had he LISTENED all of the hostility that he was displaying could have been saved for a more appropriate instance. How many crooks wait around for the police to come in the house and then claim to be the homeowner? Police these days are so excited to be hostile, they bypass what the actual point of the confrontation is! Then you have crooks and killers running around here that have NEVER HAD an encounter with the cops! Betcha I wont call them, never again, the victim just ends up being the criminal anyway.
