Since we don’t have an open post I’ll just run this scenario by the Rozay’s and see what y’all think… my uncle who, about 10 years ago, lived with my aunt but, since then, has been living with his daughter in another state. He’s been disabled his entire life and, despite having the use of one arm and one leg, has always been a handful and will whoop your A$$ with that left arm if he gets close enough. (If you ain’t never seen a person with the use of one arm and one leg always rolling in the dirt with somebody fighting… you would buy tickets)…
ANYWAY… so, my uncle has been living with his daughter for a while and recently went to the hospital and it’s not looking good. My aunt gave my cousin (his daughter) power of attorney over his check but, turns out, never gave her power of attorney over his medical… so, my cousin is having to go back and forth from another state to talk to my aunt about what’s going on while she’s sitting IN the hospital with her dad.
Long story short, there’s mess going on in the family and no one seems to see the problem with my aunt making medical decisions for my uncle and “informing” his daughter of those decisions.
Who’s right in this situation? Should the daughter feel some kind of way that someone else is in position to make decisions about her father and not her… or is our aunt correct in making decisions and “including” the daughter by letting her know the plan?
I want to have a talk with my aunt and tell her that I think she should relinquish control to the daughter, but I want to know if I’m wrong before I do.
