Prince Harry donned protective gear to walk through a “partially cleared” minefield in Angola, near the minefield where his mother, Princess Diana, was once famously photographed before she died in 1997.
The site of the former minefield where Princess Diana walked is now a paved street with buildings and sidewalks.
Prince Harry retraced his mother’s steps through the minefield which is now a bustling city with colorful buildings and sidewalks. Harry visited Angola to highlight the ongoing threat of explosive munitions in Angola.
Prince Harry paused to reflect at the base of The Diana Tree in Huambo, Angola, which marks the spot where the Princess of Wales was photographed walking through a minefield in 1997. Harry, 35, visited Dirico, Angola on day 5 of his and Duchess Meghan’s royal tour of Africa on September 27, 2019.
