One of two people detained in connection with a missing 3-year-old Alabama girl has been freed on bond.
Patrick Devone Stallworth, 39, and his girlfriend, 29-year-old Derick Irisha Brown, were taken into custody as persons of interest in the abduction of Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney.
Stallworth was charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography with the intent to distribute after investigators found the images on his cell phone. None of the images were of Kamille. Both suspects denied any knowledge of the missing girl.
Jail records obtained by AL.com show Stallworth posted a $500,000 bond at 3:22 a.m. Thursday.
Brown remains in jail with no bond. She is being held on unrelated charges of abducting her three children from DHR custody. Police say Brown also goes by the name Quentesa Jackson.
Kamille was abducted by 2 people from a child’s birthday party on Saturday, Oct. 12. Witnesses say she was pulled into a dark SUV parked outside a public housing project in Birmingham around 8:30 p.m.
A statewide Amber Alert was issued for Kamille, but Police Chief Patrick Smith said precious time was lost because the family delayed reporting her missing for several hours.
Hopes were dashed on Wednesday after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office falsely reported Kamille was found safe around noon.
An hour later, Birmingham Police confirmed Kamille was still missing and had not been found, despite the Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s confirmation of her location.
A Crime Stoppers reward for information in the case has increased to $26,000.
